What it is and why it works
What is soft washing?
Soft washing is a gentle, low-pressure clean, around 60 to 70 PSI. The cleaning solution does the work, killing the algae and buildup at the root instead of blasting the surface. That difference matters. High pressure can strip paint, etch siding, force water in behind your walls, and blast the protective granules right off your shingles. Soft washing gets it all clean without any of that, and because it kills the growth instead of just rinsing it off, your home stays clean far longer.
Those black streaks are algae. And it's eating your roof.
The black streaking on a roof is not dirt. It's algae, a living growth that feeds on your shingles, and left alone it shortens the life of your roof. The roofing industry's own association, ARMA, warns that pressure washing shingles damages them and can even void your warranty. That is what makes soft washing the only safe way to truly clean a roof. It kills the algae at the source without touching a shingle, and over the next couple of rains the streaks rinse away for good.
Is it safe for my plants, pets, and kids?
